CHAMPIONS FOR CHILDREN WALK

On May 16 through May 19, Child Advocacy Centers across Illinois will be conducting a walk from Springfield to Chicago in order to raise awareness and money for CACs. The walk will begin on the capital steps in Springfield with a ribbon cutting ceremony conducted by Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn.You may participate in this event by making a pledge to sponsor a walker or by walking and gathering your own pledges.

The Route

  1. In Springfield, May 16, at the Capitol and walk 15 miles through Sangamon County
  2. In Bloomington, Saturday, May 17, and walk 17 miles through McLean County
  3. In Joliet, Sunday, May 18, and walk 17 miles through Will County
  4. In Chicago, Monday, May 19, and walk the final 11 miles to the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center

To make a pledge:

Email your pledge to Director Jim Wiegand. Include in your email your pledge amount, your name and full address as you will be billed after the event. You may also call the Child Advocacy Center of IL at 217.528.2224 and give them your pledge information – just make sure that you designate your pledge to the Child Advocacy Center of McHenry County.

Pledges can be a flat amount or a per mile amount (minimum pledge per mile is $1.00).  The entire walk will cover approximately 55 to 60 miles.
